I've found that if I just eat one half of the bagel, instead of the bagel thin, the amount of calories is the same, but you get more of that satisfying bagel chewiness. That was the reason I didn't like the thin, it was too, well thin! I didn't feel like I was eating a bagel. Plus you only put spread on that one side, so more calories saved that way too.
