I live in Fl. so 90 % of the time there is no reason for them not to go outside. My older dogs only go outside, unless it is storming then they used to go on a rag rug by the back porch door. They picked the place, now I put a potty pad there. I trained the puppies to use a potty pad in their exercise pen. They also use the potty pad on the back porch if it is storming. My Yorkies have a doggy door, that goes into a safe covered fenced potty area. I wish I had known about pottie pads years ago !
