One of my co-workers has a little 4lb Chi girl. One of her children had some sugar-free gum with xylitol and she wasn't aware of it and Ellie got into it. Luckily she woke them up at 3am when she urinated on herself in the bed. They knew immediatley that something was wrong. Shannon (co-worker) called the vet (we use the same vet) and he said to watch her closely, and at this point they didn't know she had gotten into the gum.
Within an hour Ellie was having seizures and defecating on herself. The vet had her bring her in right away. Her liver was already failing and they are flushing her system with IV fluids (I think that is what she said) and right now she is holding her own. Please pray for them as she has two boys that are 10 and 12 and they are all distraught right now.
