Ok so the trainer came yesterday and we discussed our concerns about Geno. Well the obvious came up, housebreaking. She asked us if we wanted him trained to go outside or trained to go on a potty pad. She said she would rather not teach both so we'd have to pick which one she would teach him, but dogs obviously prefer to go the bathroom outside.
So my boyfriend and I talked about it. Basically, we both work mon-fri, and are out of the house from 7:30am-6pm. When it comes to Geno getting out and playing, my boyfriend's room mate is around and will take him out. Unfortunately, he just started back up with classes so my boyfriend's dad will be stopping throughout the day and staying with him. So since his day schedule is really uncertain for the most part, we thought it'd be good for him to be housebroken to go inside on a pee pad. Eventually we'll probably get one of those grass potty systems but for now, he'll use pee pads.
I just am concerned that we're not doing what is best for Geno. I feel bad. Does anyone else have their dog mainly go potty on a pee pad. I really do want him to be able to go on a pee pad and go outside but that might get confusing for him. Any thoughts?
