I walked away and kept browsing, acting uninterested.

I came back to it and offered them $20, saying that it was really scratched up and needed a lot of work (it was actually not that bad and the entire thing is SOLID wood- absolutely no particle board). And they took $20! I was overjoyed! It definitely had lots of potential.

So I went to Home Depot and picked up some sandpaper for my hubby's power sander, a beautiful black ebony stain, and all new brushed stainless steel hardware for around $40. Later I added another closet rod for $7. I got the wicker baskets at Ross for $10. I am still searching for some little hooks to put on the insides of the doors to hang leashes, harnesses, and collars. I am so glad I stained it instead of painting it because it has such a beautiful dark color with wood grain showing through.

I LOVE this closet! I searched for months for something to put Zoe's clothes in , but everything I found was either too small or too expensive. I am really happy with how it turned out and it really wasn't that much work. I had a lot of fun customizing it and learning how to refinish. So here are the before and after pics:

You did a great job on this little closet. What a wonderful way to recycle furniture, such a smart idea!

I see old tv/entertainment centers listed on Craigslist here all the time, for very reasonable prices. I think because with so many people getting wall mounted flat screens, no one needs the huge entertainment cabinets anymore.

My kids have a bedroom closet with double rods, shelving at one end, and harness/leash hangers on the back of the closet door. Also, I have an armoire with two drawers at the bottom for sweaters and t-shirts, I store all the bows, collars, jewelry, etc. in top portion.
