Sailor was the same way for the longest time, we were so fustrated with her. It would take us like 10 minutes just to try and get her to come and stay so we can pick her up!! We talked to a trainer and they told us to work with her at different times during the stay, but not right before leaving. We would sit down with some treats and ask her to come and then slow get her to stay there longer and longer until she would stay long enough to be picked up. This really seemed to work with her, after a couple of weeks she learned what stay was and now will stay about 85% of the time when asked to. We are still working with her as she backslides at times.
