Default Transition out of xpen

Hello everyone. I'm looking for some advice. I've had my now 6.5 month old girl roxy in a plastic xpen at night and when I'm not home for more than a few hrs. She also has a crate I put her in for brief Periods during the day/night. She has a bed, food/water, toys, and a homemade potty patch in her xpen. She pee pees in the patch every time and poops in it about 90% of the time. This xpen takes up a lot of room in my small apartment and I want to get rid of it asap so I'm looking on advice on how to teach her to go to her potty patch on her own throughout the day. I would crate her at night and when not home (which is never more than a couple hrs at a time). I've crated her overnight a few times and she does ok. Only one poop accident but I'm sure that was my fault somehow.

I was thinking of just doing it the old fashioned crate training style where she is crated and then taken to her potty spot every so often. Just wondering how others have accomplished this. I'm also potty training my 2 yr old dd so this should be a blast. Lol.
