Sorry I haven't been here for a bit. Mine are on a bit of a specialty diet, that I've adapted with help from my holistic vet. But it's basically meat and veggie, with bone meal, vitamin supplement, flax oil, digestive enzyme. While you are trying this out, I think it probably is best to start (as you plan) with a pre-made raw that is balanced. It's the way I started a couple of years ago. And to be honest, I would still be feeding that way if it wasn't for my Schnauzer's issues. The hurtle to get over is the fact that you CAN feed a wholesome balanced diet that doesn't include kibble. For me that was the biggest step...realizing that I could take charge of my dogs' diet and didn't need to depend on kibble to balance it for me.
