Sounds normal. Likely still be groggy from the meds. Not sure what vets recommend for food and water after surgery. I wouldn't worry about the food part till tomorrow. If water's OK, you might try an eye-dropper and squirting just a bit in his mouth. But, again, I'm not sure if vets recommend water right away.
I remember mine just being miserable that first day. Just comfort him and he should be back to his old self in the coming days. Be sure to keep him from getting too frisky, though.
