We have a pukey pup too. Today, we tried a "skybox" car seat made by Kurgo. Wanted to get a snoozer but needed it right away and couldn't find one locally. The Kurgo seems like a good alternative. Anyway, we drove for a little over an hour with a short break half-way through, and Gracie was panting and a little drooly, but didn't throw up. She seemed a bit calmer than when she was crated. We did open the windows some for fresh air and she seemed to like that. I can't yet tell if she gets anxious-sick or motion-sick - she looked to the side today and that didn't seem to bother her so I think it's anxiety. We're traveling 45 min to the airport tomorrow, 3 hrs on a plane and 45 min by car on the other end - this Kurgo carseat is collapsible so we can use it for both car rides and fold it up and put it in the suitcase for the flight (she'll be in her carrier then). Fingers crossed that we can make it the whole day without throwing up, but we'll have some old towels, wipes, etc just in case! |
