I have one of each. Mya is very shy, when meeting new people she will lay submissively on her back until she is comfortable - then she wants attention and loving. She is a stubborn, stubborn little girl and she could not care less if you are mad at her. She loves people more than other animals.
Oliver is a mommy's girl. He loves me, and one of my friends, and that's about it. He's a puppy mill boy with some obvious abuse in his past, so new people often scare him, especially men. He's also stubbon, and tempremental. Difference is he eventually cares that he's done something wrong and always comes for apologies (kisses). He is obsessed with other dogs, which is why I got Mya. He needs his pack.
Both are very loving and follow me around most of the time. Lots of people think one gender is more affectionate than the other, but I agree with most of the other posters - it all comes down to the dogs personality. Just like people, some like open affection and some don't.
