Why can't she be spayed now?

She does need to be spayed asap. I'd wonder if she will develop a pymoetra after all of this if she isn't starting to already. Whether or not the lump should be removed is the vet's call. If it's getting bigger, I'd be having it removed at the time of spay. If it's tiny and staying that way, I really think the vet is the best one to decide. Ellie had a couple tiny lumps. She was spayed and they went away on their own. Had they gotten bigger post-spay, they would have been at least aspirated.

It sounds as though she is a sick little girl and needs both of these procedures done as soon as possible. I'd be much less concerned about surgical pain than cancer. The fact is, mammary cancer is very common in unspayed females and so is pyometra.
