By the time mine leave, they have not been with their mother for quite some time. And that is the mother's choice, not mine.

Most of my mothers start to separate themselves from the litter at around 4 weeks, and only go in to feed them. Once they are weaned, at around 8 weeks, the mothers take a new interest in them and start to teach them, but they don't cry when they are separated from them.

I would not allow anyone to take a puppy anywhere before it was old enough to be rehomed? That is really putting that puppy at risk.
