I have been feeding Lola with Orijen since she turned 13 months, ( she is now 18 months) when she was a puppy i was feeding her Innova and decided to change her food to Orijen after reading really good reviews from ppl here on this forum. I used to have so much trouble feeding her iNNOVA because she hated the taste and since i changed to Orijen i no longer have this problem with her.
Last month I was looking for some toys at a local vet/pet shop here in NYC and the owner (not the doctor) started asking questions about lola's food, when i told him she was on orijen, he told me that that wasn't a good a food as it has a lot of protein and that i could cause her liver shunt!

Since last month i have been wondering if Orijen really has too much protein (Crude protein (min.) 38.0 %) i don't wanna cause lola problems with her liver for not knowing or doing a little bit more research about dog kibbles.
does anybody know if Orijen has too much protein? and if it does, what would be a better option with less protein?? lola is only 4,5 lbs and i am afraid that her liver is more sensitive or not as strong as the bigger yorkies
