Sleep Dilemma Hi All,
I hope you can offer some advise.
Alfie is almost 6 months old (next week). We have crate trained him, which has been great up till now. His crate was in the bedroom next to ours which is unoccupied by humans! He loves/ loved sleeping in his crate and really feels safe there. That is up until last weekend when he barked in the middle of the night and i just got out of bed without thinking and got him and took him into our bed.
Now every night since he has 2 or 3 barking episodes an night, but we just ignore him - or maybe shout "its OK Alfie" and he will stop but only for a minute or 2.
An important note to add though is that we have moved his crate to the landing just outside our bedroom door as we are decorating what was his room. So there is an element of change involved also.
Our dilemma is do we just move him, his crate and bed into our bedroom as this will stop the barking. But we know that if we do this he will expect to be in our room all the time and will eventually be able to jump into the bed.
In your opinion is it wrong to move him to our bedroom (and no doubt eventaully the bed) or do we just stick out the barking? Or do you know why hes barking and how to stop it?
Other than this and up till now he is really well behaved. Like too good at times.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
