He seems to be calming down a bit...indoors he is almost normal again, though any strange noises from the hallway require him to huff and puff and sniff at the door until he's satisfied that no one is going to try to break down the door. He's still crazy around other dogs though, strangely enough though it's just the large dogs that set him off. He seems to want to meet the dogs his size or slightly larger than him, but big dogs set him off. I've been walking him away from everything that sets him off, so we occasionally walk in circles but it seems to calm him down a bit to avoid big dogs or scary looking people. I'm going to keep working with him, and I have to start remembering the treats when we go for a walk. Thanks for the support/advice all, I'll keep you posted. I may hire a trainer at some point, since he's still a nervous ninny around strange people, he's always been that way and we seem to have taken a few steps backward with the move. |
