Sophie was in a walk for cancer! A couple of weeks ago, on Sept. 11, our town hosted a 5km walk for the Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope. My mom has been battling ovarian cancer for 2 and a half years...so we all wanted to take part in this walk to raise money for this cause.
We assumed that Sophie would need to be carried most of the time, but she surprised us. Her 4.5lb little body managed to do the entire 5kms without stopping (other than to have a few drinks from my water bottle, it was really hot). We ordered a shirt for her and it looked adorable on her so I put in a few pictures to show everyone.
The first picture is of my mom, she did most of the walk in the wheelchair but was able to walk for about a kilometer, and Sophie. I am so proud of my mom for doing this walk...and she loves Sophie so much and Sophie loves her.
The second picture is just a close up of the shirt - in case it is hard to read it says, "With all my heart I support my grandma and ovarian cancer awareness". The brown stuff on the bottom of it is just melted chocolate that was on someone's hands, the shirt has since been washed and looks perfect lol
The third picture is in the car when we stopped for gas on the way home - she was so tired (we left the house at 7am, did the 5km walk and didn't get home until 10pm because my parents also had a bbq after the walk for our entire team). She looks so tired and annoyed that I woke her up.
My mom and Sophie mean so much to me and I am so happy that they love each other just as much as I love both of them. I stay with my mom a few days a week to help out her out and she didn't get the greatest news today at her doctor's appointment. Sophie hasn't left her side since she got home and has been cuddled up to her giving her occasional kisses when my mom cries and just letting my mom hug her. |
