Yes, they are washable and dryable. They are lightweight and so much better than the regular fiberfill. They don't throw the washer off balance like the heavier filled beds do. They also fluff up wonderfully in the dryer.
I don't know which I would recommend. I do think it is easier to find cotton fabric in zebra print, though. I did have some flannel in the past but have not seen it lately.
Maybe others who have both can give some feedback here? .....
