with my cats i got them fixed right away! (they are both boys) and minnie our familys rat terrier (who is a girl) we never got her fixed.. i was a kid then so it wasn't my decision and she never had puppies) she is also 12 years old and is pretty healthy besides a few normal things (arthritis and a cataract)

ok so let me cut to the chase.. sooo.. no i dont want to breed Lucy.. this is not in my intention AT ALL.. but i am very nervous about her getting fixed! i dont know why.. maybe because i dont know much about it.. but when my boys (the cats) got fixed it seemed like such a super easy procedure.. then i feel guilty doing that to her.. i mean i know i am going to make the appointment this week.. but i just need a pep talk.. lol some of you might think it's silly for me to be stressin out over this and some of you might think im horrible for questioning it.. but i'm just speaking my mind.. ohhhhh and please dont think i would ever breed Lucy intentional.. because everyone who knows me knows.. there is NO WAY i could ever sell puppies... i would end up keeping them all lol.. and NOW that is something that i just can not do sooo no breeding here!!
It really is ok to get her fixed. If it makes you feel any better, my Daisy is a high risk dog and undergoing anesthesia for her is risky. She just turned 11 and last year she broke a tooth and it was not an option for her to have surgery. She did fine! The risk of anesthetic death is less than 1% of 1%.

Your Lucy is ready for her spay - get an appointment set and drop her off. Buy a kiss-e collar from Mom to Hot Rod here on YT and Lucy will be all set. You might want to read the sticky about anesthesia in the health section here so you can learn about the kinds that are safest for toy breeds.

I hope this helps
