It depends.

Are you wanting to get up in the middle of the night, deal with cleaning up accidents, potty training, dealing with nipping, chewing, messing up things like puppies do....

Or would you prefer a dog that is maybe already house-trained, or partially house trained, maybe a bit more mellow, probably past the nipping/chewing stage, etc?

Puppies are a joy but they are a LOT of work. I loved doing it with Jackson but I am not sure I am wanting/willing to do it again to be honest. He was a fairly easy puppy and I lucked out... I've seen puppies that were 100x harder than him, LOL. But for a few months at least it was like having a newborn. We were up in the middle of the night, he would wake up early and expect to play, we had a nice little routine though.

But I must say when my stepmom and dad adopted their 1 1/2 year old dog, it was a super easy transition. He made himself at home, he was already potty trained, sleeping through the night, it was a breeze.
