I have never had to use a baby gate but have read posts of those who have. If I had need of one, the main thing that would concern me would be if it was secure from falling down. A very long time ago I read a post about a gate ... a child leaned over to kiss the little one goodby before school and fell into the gate which came loose, fell, and killed the little Yorkie ... the child was devestated. I don't mean to bring up bad memories for anyone who might remember but I think of it every time I see discussions about gates. We have always had great success with X-pens if we have need to contain Toto, even used it for doorways. She is very small so I don't know how it would work for larger furbabies. Good luck!
