Hi:
It is good to know your little one is being treated with drops and oral meds and has more options for treatment. Those should ease his discomfort soon. Luckily Austin takes the drops OK and does not try to scratch etc. I put the oral med in Pill Pocket while he is eating his food and it goes down well with everything else before he knows it.
Perhaps a collar would help him with the pawing the eyes, at least until he gets used to the drops? I usually hold him while applying the drops and gently massage around the eye until they are absorbed. They probably sting a bit at first.
It is interesting that your dog developed aggression with the eye problem as mine did, so perhaps they are disturbed by the change in vision. Thanks for sharing that info, I was really worried that Austin had a serious neurological issue.
It is so sad for our babies to have health issues and they cannot tell us how they feel. I am sure mine will be a brat after all he gets away with now he is going through the tedious post-op period. One cannot correct them when they look so pitiful!
Good Luck and prayers for your little one, hope all the meds work well and that he can see better soon.
