I don't think the shelters here are kill shelters. Which is why it is SO hard to get a yorkie. It's amazing, really. And the one rescue I saw had an 18 page application with a fee.... just to do the application. And I realized it wasn't a full yorkie... It sure didn't look like it. :/ But I am sad, because I was so close to getting a dog from another shelter, and then it was taken away so suddenly. At this point, I want to buy a purebred one (since we are allergic to mixes). But there aren't even breeders in the southern half of New Jersey. Ugh.

Good luck with your search. My Cozy was a rehome from the breeder-her first owner was diagnosed with cancer and she did not want to be poor mom to Cozy so she gave her back to the breeder to rehome. Unfortunately, Cozy's breeder has since moved out of state.
