Lethargic and wanting to be alone are signs of pain and illness. Could be anything. Any other symptoms?
The vet will check him from head to toe and probably do a chemistry panel and CBC. Those are good places to start.
Often small problems become large problems that are more costly the longer you wait. I would find the means to get him in to the vet asap.
