You need a urine sample to check for a UTI. Bloodwork might show an elevated white count if there was an infection, but urinalysis is how to diagnose a UTI. You would need to catch the urine in a cup of some kind and take it in immediately if you want to collect it at home. Otherwise, I would take him in to the vet when he has not peed in a while so that he will have some urine in him when he gets there, and they can get the sample for you.

I'm sure the vet's office is not upset at speaking to you so much over the past two weeks. Sometimes it takes a while to get problems figured out and under control. I'm sure they are glad to see someone who takes good care of their pet and is concerned.
