Hi & welcome to the site. Like you I found this site after I adopted my little boy. I had lost my big dog 1-1/2 years before he came into my life. I was so heartbroken after losing my chow/akita mix after 11 years of love that I did not want another dog. I said I was going to wait til I retired and then get a lap dog. Next thing I knew I had adopted my Yorkie. He is now the love of my life. Still have a ways to go before retirement LOL. Bless you and your family for helping this little girl to have a better life.
