Sometimes there isn't a choice and sometimes it is avoidable. Obviously if it's food an elimination diet should be done. If it's envir., antihistamines and Atopica can be tried. If it's flea related, well, monthly preventative and maybe antihistamines, but you might be stuck with the pred. We do steroids as a last resort with E's pancreas.
There is a tail hole. E poops right through it (grr). It does get the diaper dirty when they go while wearing it. Peepad trained dogs probably aren't good candidates for diapers.. If has to be taken off and then they are taken potty.
Be very careful. Urine burn happens quickly. Change wet diaper pad immediately and watch the area (check it daily).
