Default Also a new yorkie mommy

I love his site and everyone has there own opinions. I got my baby when she was only 8wks old. I kept her on the same food becasue it was a good food and I figure if its not broke dont fix it. But I have switched food with other dogs and just mix old in with new (more old than new at first and gradually go up to new daily)
I got Dixie on a Tuesday and I could not get her into a vet untill the following Friday (thats a whopping 10 days!!!) she was just fine. Just be sure that if she is sleeping ALOT her blood sugar may be low and you want to chatch that FAST! As a matter of fact that is how I found this site. I was doing some research as to why she did not seem like a normal 8wk old puppy and found out that yorkies are hypoglicemic. I gave her a little bit of karo syrup (after I called the vet and got the ok) and she was a whole new puppy. I somedays miss her sleeping so much
I waited a whole day before I interduced her to my big dog just so she was not overwhelmed all in one day. They did GREAT together.
I asked the guy I got her from if she was used to a crate and he told me that she had one that the door remained open on and if she wanted to sleep in it she could and if not she did not have to. I did the samething and since she had never been in a crate locked up before I put her in bed with us the first night and that is where she has been ever since. She goes in her crate when I am gone but other than that she has free run of the house. I also started potty training right away outside. I am not a believer of potty pads, dogs are ment to go potty outside. Also, I run a daycare out of my home so the state kinda frowns on doggie pads laying around. She has had 1 accident in the house in the 3 weeks I have had her and that was my fault because I did not hear her at the door. And the mess was right in front of the door. Lots of getting very excited, lots of cherrios and lots of good girls and she does very well outside.
I am sure that several people will tell you different things because everyone has their own opinions but I just use the advice : nobody knows how to raise your baby but you. Good luck, and dont stress so much. They are amazing dogs and I could not be happier that I got my baby!
