I won't get into that(it will make you cry- I did) Long story short- i am driving back to Tenn to pick him up on thurs.
I have read as much about the breed as i could find. Ty to all of you here, this has been a wealth of info for me. I have so many concerns.

1. Will it harm him to change his food right away?(what he is on is sub-par to say the least)

2. He has not had ANY of his shots, but my Vet can't get him in till Teus, will he be ok, or do i find another vet?(i trust my vet)

3. What is the best way to introduce him to my Chocolate Lab?

4. Any suggestions for how to handle the first night home? Sleeping with me in bed or in a crate?

5. We keep our house cool, should i get a warming pad for him or just PJs?

I could go on with ?s all day!

I am so scared i will mess this up. He really needs to be loved and SAFE. I have named him Sparta due to his fighting spirit
Congrats on your new sweet baby!!!!!!!!!!

Don't stress to much, it really will be ok..

1.. I wouldn't switch foods right away.. He needs time to adjust to his new surroundings and people. Many times they don't eat alot in their new home for the first few days.. switching sometimes will make this worse. Give him a few weeks before doing food changes.

2. This is just my own opinion but I would be making a vet appointment asap.. Is there another vet in the office you would feel comfortable seeing for the time being? I have done this with Taycie before because I didn't feel comfortable waiting. Where he has had a rough start thus far, and he doesn't have any shots, I would just rather have him seen as soon as possible.

3. I can't offer alot of advice as far as introductions go.. I only have my Taycie.. But I am sure others will chime in

4. I would suggest a crate durning the night. I did this with Taycie until I knew she could "hold" it through out the night. Within the first month she was sleeping with me.. I acutally put the crate on my bed and she slept right beside me. You could try putting it on the floor next to your bed so he can see you and know you are there. I know many do that.

5. My house is rather cold and Taycie does fine. I think Pjs would be ok.. But he might like a nice warming pad, some really like that and it is really relaxing. I think that is up to you For me, because Taycie sleeps with me PJs are enough on the super cold nights.

Don't worry! You won't mess this up. You are already doing everything right by giving him a loving home that he so deserves. Enjoy it!
