I would say if you've thought about double the expense, double the trouble of finding vacation spots that take two dogs, and definitely double the worry. I would say, (of course I am biased) get a male to go along with your female. I also think it is a great suggestion to take your Yorkie on play dates and see how she interacts with the other doggies.

But I believe that you should get another dog of what-ever gender because both you and your husband want another dog. Not because you think she would be happier with another dog in the house.
