I never have the tails docked or the dewclaws done until they are 5 days old.. I do go back with my vet to make sure he docks them exactly where I want them docked! My puppies only fuss (cry) during the procedure and nothing afterwards..
I truly wish the AKC standard would change to keeping their tails, instead of them being docked.. But I doubt it will ever happen..
