I know how you feel. I can sit and look at pictures of my past pets and break out crying because the memory is so real of those little babies that were once a part of my life.
As far as saying good bye before you leave. Sometimes when I am about to walk out the door I will turn around to speak to Gracie and she will be lying there with her head on her front paws looking at me, just waiting for me to say something. I would hate to think of hurting her little feelings by just walking out without a word.
