You could try putting a blanket over the wire crate. It's the only way Pixie will sleep in hers, she doesn't like the open air concept of the wire, she prefers a cozy den! I've seen some places that sell covers just for this purpose (Google "Wire Dog Crate Covers"). But the small throw blanket works well enough.

I like my wire crate because it folds down flat for easy travel, where I find the plastic crates can be a bit cumbersome to drag along (even if you disassemble it). It's nice to bring along if we're going to a friends for the afternoon or spending the night somewhere. That way she has her own familiar space to retire to if she wants to take a nap or just get away for a bit.
