Bear banger is a pen like object in size.
It was a trigger and on the end of it is larger cap that is filled with I assume gun powder.
When you pull the trigger it makes a loud sound and hopeful scares the bear.
Pepper spray is the other thing you can carry but that with kids is putting you to close to the bear to use safely.
This hopefully stops the bear long enough to clear the kids out.
