My yorkie did that too, so I started training him to ring a bell to go outside, but continued with the indoor pads and eventually he stared using the pads again. Persistent and consistent training on both and I have a great baby that goes to a litter box in the middle of the night or when he is alone and also rings a bell when we are home with him
