I seen there is another thread similiar to what I am about to post. Most becoming a common thing.
I went to a pet store today on my lunch hour. I wasn't there to purchase a pet but their web-site I thought said they had the gourmet treats and that is what I was looking for. Also always looking for something new for Jack and Josie.
The store had two entrances one was to the puppy side an the other to the for sale items and grooming.
I choose the puppy side first since I do like ot look at the puppies. I know not to go in pup stores cause I always come out with a broken heart and want to rescue all.
This had to be the worse pup store I think I have ever been in. The smell was unreal. They had puppies basically 2 to each open area (not cages).
They had shredded paper for the bottom and several had poop all in it and the puppies were laying in it, walking on it. I seen one even licking poop.
The water bowls looked like the water had not been changed ever!
One area had several very small chiuaua puppies in it. I walk over cause there was one curled up not moving while the others were boucing all around it. I stuck my hand on its side to see if I could feel it breath and I really couldn't so I nudged it a few times. She moved a little and a girl walked out of the back and I ask her if this puppy was okay. She said yea, she has just been "held" all day. She picked her up and placed her closer to the light. She said she is actually more fiesty than any of them. I said she looks very young. She said she was actually 13 weeks old.
(No way) That puppy would fit in my hand, no kidding.
I walked to where the yorkies were, I should have ran out after the chiuaua exihibit. It breaks my heart just to think about it, these two yorkies I don't think were "full" blooded yorkies. If they were they had some kind of mix down the line in them. One of the babies was standing on her back feet scratching to get out. She did that the whole time I was there. I petted the other one that was in there and you could actually feel the babies rib cage. It was horrible. I started tearing up at that point.
I walked around and look in the other pups areas, this other dog may have been a malteese I can't remember now cause by now I am mortified. This dog was eating the paper that the food was served on. It look like the coffee filters you put in a coffee pot.
Another pup was chewing on the holder that you would put the water bottle on. I told the girl, he may need some water.
By now they are probably thinking who the heck is this person. There was another set of the yorkies but I could not take no more and left.
When I left I used the hand santizier and my hand that I had been petting the pups with was actually DIRTY! When I got back to work I took a Clorox wipe and wiped my hands really good and the bottom of my shoes. I would not want to take nothing home to Jack and Josie.
I want to report this place, who do I call? The Health department? The Humane Society?
I did peep in next door to see what that was about, they sold food in there and leashes some outfits. There was a dog getting groomed. I cannot believe anyone in their right mind would take their dog there to get groomed. There were a couple of young girls on that side as well as a couple or three on the other also.
I can still smell that smell.
