This is why I own a cockatiel. Store manager wouldnt move a baby away from adults that were pulling feathers,so I bought him. He is soooo skinny,no matter what he eats. I didnt think that he would live very long,he is now 12yrs old.
The petstores here in FtW are mostly Petsmart and Petco they have rescues that come in for adoptions. I dont really know of a local private petstore that sells puppys or kittens,good thing.
