Odd how some exact opposite methods will work, for different people and their dogs.
When pottie training I take the pup to the same spot every hour at first on a leash. I say Go Pottie. I give them maybe 2 minuets. If they go, I praise, clap, pet and treat AND let them off the leash to sniff and play. If they don't go, I scoop them up and go back inside. Of course no praise,clap,pet, treat or play time if they don't go. My dogs get it. Pottie quick first thing and really good stuff happens. PS try putting a used pottie pad on the outside spot.
