Vomiting and Sudden Incontinence Okay, here goes, ........
Last night Cecilia swallowed half of my ambien pill. I was about to take it and turned from picking up my drink and saw cecilia licking her chops like she had just eaten something. I looked down and the pill was gone. I freaked out. The pill puts me out in about 20 mins. I knew that she would fall asleep and quit breathing. I called the emergency vet and he told me to induce vomiting by using hydrogen peroxide. He said to give her to Tablespoons and 10 minutes later 2 more if nothing happened yet. The medicine syringe I use is only 2 Teaspoons and so I told him that she is only 5 pounds and asked him if he was sure that it was Table spoons and not Tea spoons. He assured me that it should be Tablespoons. I got about 1 and 1/2 Teaspoons down her. After about 15 mins she vomited and up came the tiny pill. When I touched it it completely disinigrated. After that I watched her to see if she acted any different. During the night she started vomiting blood. I took her to the emergency Vet today and she said that her stomach was irritated from the Peroxide. She also told me that the guy that I spoke to last night should have said Teaspoons and Not TABLEspoons. She said the amount that he was telling me to give was way more than she would say. This is the guy from her office she is talking about. She took blood and said that Cecilia was just going to be running the risk of dehydration since she was having such a hard time keeping down fluids. They gave her injections under the skin to get fluids into her and a medicine to stop the vomiting. She sent me home with an antibiotic and a medicine for her stomach to prevent her from getting ulcers. She set me up with a schedule to slowly get her to take fluids and then food again. Okay so here is the real question. After we left the vets office Cecilia started to have a few leaks of her bladder. Just little ones like a spot the size of a quarter. She has never had this problems before. Then just a few hours ago I was laying on my bed with her and petting her and she was cuddling with me, I got up to give her some more water and I realized that she was laying in urine. She had urinated a large amount and acted like she didn't even know it. And she was just laying in it. Has anyone ever experienced sudden incontinence in their dog? She is only a year and a half old and has never had a problem with bladder control before.
As far as the vomiting goes, she had not vomited since we left the vet and I had been increasing her fluids. Then I tried a little bit of this canned food they gave me that is very bland and supposed to ease her back onto solids. She vomited that up and then vomited water when I tried that a little later.
I just checked her as she is laying next to me and again she has urinated thru a doggie diaper and a towel I have her wrapped in. Please help me if you know of anything I should do. The emergency vet clinic doesn't act concerned but I am not at all confidant it the care she has received so far. I am trying to locate another all night facility. Thanks in advance. |
