I have had that type problem when Maddie is sick and needs to be seen, and either there are no openings or I can go and sit and pay extra for a "work in" appointment. I have found that if there is no opening, I ask to talk to the vet and if he isn't available at the time, I ask to have him call me. He is so nice and always says, bring her up. He doesn't charge me the extra charge for a "work in," just the regular appointment. I think that vet's should leave a few openings for sick dogs, so they can get in when they need to be seen. I have called my vet's office at 8 AM when they open and found that they are filled, so I know they don't keep any open slots!
