I chose an "american" bred, Lucy is quite large, very light cream coloring (as an adult)(hardly any grey thru out muzzle and ears) very large black nose and paw pads., and VERY mellow. My neighbor has an Irish type and he is really quite different.Best to google "Irish wheaten terrier" and look at the difference in the different breeders full grown dogs.
One of the things I would be looking for in a Wheaten Breeder, is that they temperament test their puppies. With that testing you should get a better assessment of the likely future temperament of your puppy.

The other idea I had, is if there are relatively nearby breeders who are either a) retiring a female or b) have a relatively young female/male that didn't turn out as a show dog.
Some friends of mine who were looking for an Airedale Terrier, lucked into just that very situation. They were the lucky recipients of a female that was older (2yrs old), housebroken, basic obedience trained, and had just the gentle temperament they were looking for.

Good luck with your search.
