I don't think it's a problem. Dogs are so adaptable and a name to them isn't anymore than a recognizable word, such as 'treat' or something. It's just a word that they have associated with them getting attention, etc.
My dad got his dog from the shelter and he had three different names before us, poor dude, he was only a little over a year old. We finally settled on Buddy because he's responded to it the best. But his previous names were Michael, Ashton, and Duke. |
