My poor little Sydney needed double knee surgery on her back legs before she was even one. I know you're worried, but if the vet said he's fine for now, that's good. Syd was too far gone, but what's interesting is that she never limped but once. She was on glycoflex for a spell until after the knees heeled from surgery. My parents Yorkie has lp in one knee, but the vet said she only needs glycoflex for now, but to limit jumping. For Sydney it was genetics, but jumping from a bed or couch doesn't help. Get him to use doggies stairs. Place a treat on each step to get him to go up and down. Walks should be fine and stairs should be fine as long as he isn't going full force up or down as if chasing something. Also, be careful about allowing him to play on slippery surfaces such as wood floors. As said, swimming is the best exercise.
Let us know how he does!
