One thing I would like and have thought about is not having the shepherd here at all, because hubby is not really steeping up to handle their care and I do not want to have something like this happen again so I am looking at that option as well. So sorry this happened. But I understand I have a 3 year old and I have my self jerked him up and gave him a swat when he refused to hold hands and almost ran out in front of a car . I felt horrible afterward. But now he does always hold hands.... Just work on it and do what you got to do to solve the problem.
