One of the neat things about being a teacher is that you DO get the 3 summer months off and you can do with them whatever you want. So... if you want to work and make extra money - you can. Many schools have summer school or you can work at something completely different in the summer. Or you can travel or just stay at home and rest.
My hubby has developed a chronic illness and had to retire and so we are trying to travel in the summer, and do some of the things he may not be able to do later. I am lucky that I teach and can be gone for 4-6 weeks in the summer.
