Agreed. But when you turn abruptly it does jerk them a little bit because they are going a different direction and now they are being turned around where you are walking.
Yes. What I mean is don't yank on them. You can turn abruptly and the dog will get pulled along until they catch up, but it really distresses me to see people yanking their dogs backward yelling HEEL!! So stressful and unnecessary, even on harness. The walk should be enjoyable, not a stress-filled power struggle.

Ozzy and I go on fantastic walks. He stays beside me and looks at me every minute or so as if to say "I'm doing alright hey??!!" and I tell him he's a good boy every few minutes. If he starts to pull, we come to a full stop until he sits down, then we start up again. No stress, no yanking, no yelling.
