Curly hair by nature is dry. Curly hair LOVES moisture.. but you have to create a fine balance between moisture and too much moisture.. otherwise it will weigh it down and become lifeless..

Also... Curly hair.. LOVES product.. Yes.. it does.. No, you don't need crunchy hair gel and gobs of hair spray but.. Like I say to many of my clients you say to me...

" I love the way you do my hair but I am never able to re-create what you do.."

Well... what products do you use..

" Not much if I use any.."

Well lets see today, I have used.. ( then I list all the products)

And then I reply.. No.. I couldn't do your hair with out product.. It's like trying to cook something without a recipe

There are some AMAZING products out there for curly Hair..

I personally Love Aveda..

There curly line is my absolute FAV! It's very lightweight but moisturizing

The BE Curly Curl Enhancer is Fabulous. It is like a lotion.. love this stuff.

Aveda - Official Site - Shop By Solution - Hair - Curl Enhancement

I also love the Shampoo and Conditioner as well..

Big Sexy is also one of my FAVORITES! There curly line is excellent!

Sexy Hair

I love the curl creme and the liquid gel!

and yes... I have used all of this on my hair.. I have curly hair

And.. diffusers are WONDERFUL FOR CURLY HAIR! Try a low setting high heat and you will get great body and great curl!

I was also going to suggest a dry shampoo for oily bangs. You may also want to switch up shampoos and conditioners. I personally have a moisture shampoo/conditioner, a volume shampoo/conditioner for my hair in my shower..

I find switching between shampoos and conditioners gives my hair a good balance.. I find if I use a moisture shampo/con every single day my hair becomes too lifeless and I can't get it to do anything... so I switch depending on my style for the day.

Focus your conditioner on the ends.. that is where it is needed the most then work up to the scalp.

Hope this helps! Sorry it was sooooooo long
Now I have a question for you. I have an appt next week for a cut and perm. My hair is pin straight asian hair, however it is thin, not thick like most asian hair. I had it last permed in Jan, and it held for about a month. It still has a bit of curl if I scrunch while drying, but the reason for getting permed in the first place was to have volume at semi low maintenance.

This time I am going to ask for tighter curls and leave the solution in for longer. What products do you think I should use to help hold the curl, and not have the "wet" look that mousse leaves? The salon I go to does not push or sell products there.

the first pic was what I brought in last time. It came out very similar, but see how the curls are loose, they fell out in no time. the 2nd pic is what I want this time, tighter curls and shorter bangs, as I have a long bottom portion of my face and my eyes are up high like hers.
