It's my understanding that LP can happen one of two ways, genetic or through some accident. When it's genetic, they always have it. Mine was diagnosed at 12 months with a high grade LP. I got him at 12 months, and the vets (I took him to 3) all speculated that he had LP since birth, since it was so high. He doesn't have bow legs. He can't sit like a normal dog, but standing and walking his legs look normal.

I've also read that through a leg injury, pups can get LP, but it's a much lower grade.

If it's not LP, did the vets offer any other explanation for his legs?
