the reason why we don't support pet stores, is bc you do not know what you are getting. You don't know the history of the dam or sire, if there are any genetic diseases, even if the dog really is a purebred or not. Also, the biggest reason, is that the "breeders" who supply pet shops with dogs are not good breeders, bc they have no control over who will ultimately get their dogs. A good breeder would NEVER sell their puppies to a pet shop. Pet shops get their puppies from puppymills, that is a fact.

Reputable breeders will interview you at length (that's to say the least) and if you are lucky you can get a dog from them. All the hard work they put into their dogs, they are not going to let just anyone get a hold of their lines.

Also, just think of how young these pups are taken away from their moms in order to travel across country to these shops. Many don't survive the journey. And don't think you are saving the pup from the pet shop. All that will do is enable the pet shop owner, letting him continue to exploit animals to line his own pocket. And think about the poor mommies trapped in those tiny cages their whole life forced to keep pumping out puppies.
