If this happened as the OP has now reported twice, including the thoughtless "hindsight" remark, this vet should no longer practice veterinary medicine. When you have no better judgment than to anesthetize a dog that has just had cardiac arrest for an elective procedure, you don't have the necessary mental acumen or discernment skill set to have the lives of people's dear pets under your care and control.
